Our Cloth Diapering Make-Over :)

As my then almost two-year-old potty trained, I experienced a sense of relief and a sense of sadness. Not only was my little boy growing up, but our beloved, adorable cloth diapers would no longer be needed. I'm sure some of you can relate to what I am referring to here. :) So, you can probably imagine the excitement that came over me when my husband and I found out that we were expecting #3 - and not too long after our son had turned 2!

Not only was I more than ready to cloth diaper from the get-go, with all of the itty-bitty newborn fluff, but I also just figured we would mostly stick to the same brands and types of cloth diapers we had used on our son. Well, cloth diapering from the get-go was a new and exciting experience for us, since we hadn't done this with our son. It was fun trying out different types of newborn cloth diapers and discovering what worked best for our new little bundle, but what came as a huge surprise to me was what type of diaper(s) I ended up loving on him.

Yes, I had a discovered a love for prefolds/inserts (think Applecheeks inserts tri-folded, Thirsties Duo Hemp prefolds) paired with covers. When I was expecting to be drawn to my usual love for poskets, I was amazed at how many times I would go out of my way to do another load of diaper laundry just to make sure I had plenty of prefolds/inserts & covers.

Our little guy, well, not so little at nearly 20 lbs at just 6 months old! - is still sporting much of the same diapers as when he was itty-bitty. We've found a HUGE love for BestBottom diapers and shells too! They are truly adorable, we love the double gussets, wipeable inner, and love how the inserts snap-in rather than just laying in. We are also enjoying Gro-Via shells either with Gro-Via soaker pads or a tri-folded AppleCheeks, Thirsties, or Flip insert. So, rather than a ton of pocket diapers with a few randoms here and there, we've turned into a family that loves more of an All-In-Two system. We enjoy the flexibility of having many insert options and several different adorable patterned and colored shells/covers to choose from.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good variety too. So, we do have a few pockets, All-In-Ones and fitteds in our stash too! :)

Hello, hello! Wow! I can't believe how long its been since I gave our blog some attention. But I guess that is how things go when you're carrying your third baby and then have three little ones under the age of 5 - so please forgive me. :)

I am really going to attempt to post upcoming sales and announcements directly to our blog in advance, so please be sure you are following along. I would also love to hear from all of you and what types of information you would like to see posted here - washing routines, newborn diapering, my personal experience with specific diapers, etc. Whatever it may be please share.

One thing I will say, which may lead to my next post, is I am amazed at how different my approach to cloth diapering is this time around as opposed to my last. I look forward to sharing more.... :)

Cloth Diapering Overnight

Finding a bullet proof solution for cloth diapering your baby overnight can be a very daunting task, because every baby is different - some are very heavy wetters and one diaper does not fit every baby the same way. Therefore, finding what works for your baby or tot overnight can be very much a trail and error process until you find something that works!

My first suggestion to those who ask for overnight solutions involves pocket diapers - FuzziBunz, bumGenius, AppleCheeks, Happy Heinys - just to name a few. If you have any of these on hand, you're off to a great start! Pocket diapers are very customizable which allows you to stuff in however much or little absorbency your baby needs for different times of the day. For example, if your baby is a fairly moderate wetter, one microfiber insert and one hemp insert (hemp on bottom) stuffed in a pocket diaper may do the trick, especially for younger babies. If you need more absorbency, you may try using two hemp inserts and one microfiber insert or prefold stuffed in the pocket.

Another option are fitted diapers with a pocket opening such as Thirsties Fab Fitteds or Happy Heinys Hempys, paired with a cover. The fact that these too have a pocket opening allows you to add more absorbency for your baby overnight or during naps. In most cases, you can add one or two hemp or bamboo inserts to these fitteds and pair it with a cover, and you have the perfect nighttime solution!

Finally, LolliDoo makes a great Overnight Eco-Pocket Diaper. Again, you stuff it with the absorbency your baby needs and you have a leak proof system. These are very breathable because they are made with fleece and come with either an organic cotton or stay dry lining and they do NOT have a PUL layer. Added bonus, the snaps are VERY sturdy! Even hard for parents to undo :)

So, if you've been stressing over damp sheets and jammies in the morning, I hope this post has given you some ideas as to great options for diapering your baby overnight! :) Cheers to dry jammies, dry sheets and happy babies in the morning! <3

Blissful Booty AIO Review

I was truly lucky to have the opportunity to review the Blissful Booty All-In-One (AIO) diaper. To my surprise, I also received a booster, 3 - 7x7.5" wipes, and a 1oz lavender vanilla wipe solution concentrate with a 12oz spray bottle! Needless to say I was VERY excited!

The Blissful Booty AIO comes with aplix closure - wait snap fans, you must read on! Being a huge fan of snaps myself, I was a bit concerned; However, my concern soon disappeared! I love that there is a bit of material, the same waterproof cloth outer material on the diaper, surrounding the aplix. This means that you do not have to worry about it rubbing up against your baby's soft skin. There are also wonderful laundry tabs, and YES they work! You will not experience the "dreaded cloth diaper snake" when you pull your fluff out of the wash! YIPPEE!

The inside of this diaper may be the softest I have ever felt! It is a super soft no-pill microfleece that lifts moisture away from your baby's skin, and it stays soft wash after wash. It washes up beautifully every time! This diaper even has fabulous inner leg casings, for an extra leak-proof system! An AIO with inner leg gussets, can it really get any better than that? Why YES, it can! :)

Since the Blissful Booty is an AIO there is no stuffing or unstuffing and with the aplix this diaper is approved by not only mommy's, but daddy's, grandparents and sitters will love these too! This diaper comes in two colors - Buttercream and Celery, and both are gender neutral and worn happily by all babies!

This diaper comes in 5 different sizes:
X-Small - 5-12lbs
Small - 9-16lbs
Medium - 14-23lbs
Large - 21-35lbs
X-Large - 35+ lbs
The sizing is VERY generous! My son is 25+ lbs at 20 months and the medium size still fits well without leaking. My son is really in-between sizes right now. As the medium fits perfectly, but the rise is getting to be to short on this size.  The large is a bit big, but with the crossover tabs and an added Blissful Booty booster, we still get a great fit and NO leaks! WOOT!  So right now, we use both :)

Most AIOs take a LONG time to dry, but get ready for this! I do our diaper laundry in the evening, and lay our diapers on a drying rack inside overnight a lot of times. So, I washed the Blissful Booty diaper and hung it to dry overnight. I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find it COMPLETELY DRY the next morning! I have never had an AIO dry in such a short amount of time, especially with no sunlight and no time in the dryer. The Blissful Booty AIO is absolutely AMAZING! Perfect for first-timers and a breath of fresh air for the experienced!

Now, let me tell you, I've only ever used baby wash cloths for our cloth wipes - that is until now! So when I received the Blissful Booty cloth wipes, wipe solution concentrate and spray bottle, I was excited, but I really wasn't sure what to expect. Now, I can tell you, our baby wash cloths are stuffed in a cabinet and I am in love with the Blissful Booty wipes, solution & spray bottle! The wipes are double-sided with a soft cotton terry on one side for the big jobs and a soft cotton flannel on the other for finishing up. We got the lavender vanilla scent wipe solution concentrate, and it smells amazing! There are several other wonderful scents to choose from too! The spray bottle comes in three sizes - 4oz, 6oz, & 12oz. I think the 4 oz is perfect for the diaper bag and the 12oz is perfect for at home. The directions for mixing the solution concentrate are right on the spray bottle, and it is so easy to use! Just mix, shake and spray directly on your Blissful Booty wipe when you're ready to use it. Easy peasy!

I really can't say enough wonderful things about the Blissful Booty line of products! I could go on and on. I am so excited that I came across these wonderful products, and they are definitely one of my new favorites! We love using them on our son, and we feel they are the perfect addition to Tini Bottoms!! <3

The Different Reactions... "You do what?"

I've been cloth diapering my son for nearly 18 months now - WoW! Where has the time gone! Yet, I still tend to get nearly the very same reactions anytime we are out in public, and I mention that he is cloth diapered. "You do what? Really?" -OR- "Man, that must be a LOT more work! You're brave!" Umm, NO, actually it isn't! It's actually really, very EASY! Yup, that's right, I said it - E-A-S-Y! :)

I have come to expect the reaction of shock when I share my passion and love for cloth diapering with others, yet, I love it when I don't get that reaction and instead I get an, "Oh really? What are they like? Do you have one you can show me?" SURE! :) I try to keep at least two different types and brands with me when I am out and about, just in case I get a chance to brag on my precious fluff! :)

I am sure most all of you have gotten many of the same reactions. Hopefully, through sharing our experiences we can spread the fluffy love around and bring more awareness  to the benefits of cloth diapering and how truly EASY it really is.

P.S. ~ I really ENJOY doing "Fluffy" laundry! (It's the only laundry I enjoy.)
